Problems With Common Hair Loss Remedies

There are many options available to people who are dissatisfied with their hair loss.

HAIR WEAVES/EXTENSIONS:
Literally, tying a wig-like structure into the existing hair to create some illusion of new or longer hair. On the plus side, a well-chosen professionally applied high-quality hair weave can, for a price, make it look as if you have more hair than you do. The downside - your existing hair isn't meant to be "woven" that way and the hair damage this causes is legendary and it's not real hair.

SHAMPOOS AND CONDITIONERS:
Unfortunately, shampoos and conditioners just can't penetrate the scalp, no matter how hard you massage and how long you leave them on your head they can’t stop balding. The very best shampoos and conditioners can only do so much. Switching shampoos can’t stop hair loss, it isn't going to re-grow anything and it won't make your hair grow faster.

HAIR TRANSPLANTS: 
A hair transplant involves removal of hair from the back of the head and transplantation to the bald area. The large follicles removed from the back of the head remain normal in size after transplantation and continue to produce long, large hairs in the new area. Scalp reduction involves excision of the bald area and drawing together the remaining skin. This procedure can be combined with the management of skin flaps, whereby parts of the hairy scalp are surgically moved to the bald area. These surgical procedures carry some risk, can be expensive and are dependant on the skill of the surgeon.

WIGS/TOUPEES:
Wigs are certainly a time-honoured tradition. You will pay a lot for a good-looking wig or hair-piece, but you can get a lot of mileage out of it, too. Again, the real choice here is simple: do you want a good substitute?
